Lorraine Robbins

Lorraine designs and makes in a very intuitive way. New domestic ware pieces often start as quick sketches in her notebooks. For other work destined for the gallery, Lorraine combines historical research with contemporary experience to create meaningful, tactile pieces.

Lorraine works from her studio in the basement of her home in Stroud. Hand-building, using the ancient techniques of coiling and pinching, is her preferred method of working. Lorraine uses stoneware clay and makes her own glazes to achieve the particular colours and finishes desired for an individual piece.
